Computational analysis of triboelectrification due to aerodynamic powder dispersion

Triboelectric charging can strongly influence bulk powder flow behaviour, and hence its characterization is of great interest for safe manufacturing operations. In a recent development, the use an aerodynamic disperser, employing pressure pulse to disperse small quantity, shows potential inducing triboelectric charge transfer. We analyse this process by coupled Discrete Element Method Computational Fluid Dynamics (DEM-CFD) simulations, incorporating The simulations are based on property data glass ballotini as model particles, together with those α-lactose monohydrate (α-LM) aspirin, powders practical interest. characteristics particle-particle particle-wall collisions analysed in detail. analysis that pharmaceutical particles significantly more than ballotini. charge-to-surface area ratio remarkably constant close equilibrium value each test material.
